For years, my paintings began at the kitchen table. Today, they emerge from a sunlit studio tucked inside our 1950s New Mexico home, a space filled with books, garden flowers, well-loved treasures, curious cats, and the small details that inspire me to look more closely at the world.

This studio is more than a workspace. It's a place of attention.

Here, wildflowers gathered from the garden share space with stacks of nature books. Sketches mingle with seed packets. Cats nap in patches of sunlight while paintings slowly take shape. It's a room dedicated to noticing, experimenting, learning, and celebrating the beauty of the living world.

Every painting begins here, often with a simple act of observation.

A Studio Rooted in Daily Life

Just beyond the studio door, life unfolds.

My son works nearby, occasionally interrupting with a question, a story, or a burst of laughter. Cats drift through like quiet companions. Open windows carry birdsong, shifting light, and the scent of rain, soil, and blooming things from the garden.

The boundaries between home, nature, and creative practice are wonderfully blurred.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

The rhythms of family life, the changing seasons, and the unfolding stories of the garden all become part of the work.

The Art of Paying Attention

Many of my paintings are inspired by the belief that beauty creates care.

The studio is where I practice that belief every day.

It's where I spend time learning the names of plants, studying the details of a flower, observing the habits of birds and pollinators, and exploring the relationships that connect all living things.

These quiet moments of attention eventually find their way into the artwork, inviting others to slow down, look closely, and reconnect with the natural world.

Restoration begins with noticing.

This is where that noticing happens.
